ZineMonth 2024: The Magus & The Oracle

Oops, we're doing it again!

After working with Morgane and Marion for On the Way to Chrysopoeia, we've rolled up our sleeves with momatoes to create a new edition of her award-winning The Magus, a solo journaling rpg about pathos, arcana, and the infinite loneliness of power. This new adventure will begin soon on Kickstarter, in time for ZineQuest 2024.

We're going from an epistolary game to a solo ttrpg, but the truth is we're always in great company, with extraordinarily imaginative designers trusting us to bring their ideas to their full potential. The Magus is dear to our hearts: we published its Italian edition, the only one to be turned into a physical book. We love it for its crunchy rules and deep narrative potential, for the way it lets you tell melancholy, cathartic, thrilling stories.

This edition comes with a new layout, updated rules and a new guide in the guise of the Oracle:  a deck of 78 illustrated cards. Its keyphrases and art will become a source of endless inspiration for the Spells and Bonds that will leave their mark on your Magus. But we've designed them to add something new to other momatoes games, to ttrpg in general, and to every act of storytelling. Draw a card, find a treasure trove of ideas.

If you loved Chrysopoeia, you love writing and you love coming up with fantastical worlds filled with wonder and danger. You might also love art-- and momatoes, just like Marion, has a unique, breath-taking art style to offer you. The Magus will offer you all of this and more... And truth be told, the stretch goals might hold an alternative to playing solo.

But we've already said too much, the adventure has yet to begin. If you want to follow us into our ivory tower (and on Kickstarter, to get notified when the campaign launches!), NessunDove will be honored to have you as guests. Player count aside, a game is only as great as the community it can enchant.
